BOUNCING BACK
Slam Dunking Sportsmanship and Resilience

PRESENTED BY GRANT HALLIBURTON FOUNDATION AND DALLAS WINGS

Pre-Season Game | College Park Center | May 3 2024

WHAT IS RESILIENCE?

Resilience is the ability to bounce back following a challenging situation.

WHY DO WE NEED RESILIENCE?

Resilience enables athletes to overcome challenges and setbacks, while sportsmanship guides their behavior and interactions with others. Together, these qualities create athletes who not only strive for excellence but also demonstrate integrity, respect, and grace both on and off the field. Athletes who possess both resilience and sportsmanship are not only successful in their sport but also serve as positive role models and ambassadors for the values of sportsmanship and fair play.

Coping Skills for Difficult Times

A great way to help you through challenging times is using coping skills.

Box Breathing

Box breathing is a meditation practice that involves taking slow, deep breaths for the count of four.
It can help reduce stress, improve focus, enhance relaxation and sleep quality.
