Grant Halliburton Foundation and Newport Healthcare are co-hosting a free virtual screening of My Ascension on Wednesday, February 10 at 6:00 p.m.

The panel discussion after the screening will include Emma Benoit; Greg Dicharry, director and producer of My Ascension; and Vanita Halliburton, co-founder of Grant Halliburton Foundation. 

This inspiring and eye-opening film shares the story of Emma Benoit, a young teen who survives a suicide attempt, and her quest to walk again. Emma uses her painful experience to raise awareness and help others find hope. In the documentary, she learns about Hope Squad and wants to get the program into more schools to help prevent suicide. In Texas, we lose a young person ages 10-24 to suicide at the rate of almost two per day. We must continue having open and honest conversations with students and families to remove the stigma around mental illness and help prevent suicide.
