Here are 10 things to know about Julia!

1. What was your first job?
My first job was when I was in high school. I worked in the communications department at The Episcopal School of Dallas. For my first adult job out of college I was the aging in place coordinator at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis.

2. What’s your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is Dr. Pepper and Torchy’s queso.

3. What advice would you give to your teenage self?
I feel lucky to have always been confident in myself and my decisions. I would tell my younger self not to worry so much about the future. It’s okay! Also, no winged eyeliner.

4. What’s your favorite movie scene and why?
I love the scene in “Hello, Dolly!” where Barbra Streisand goes back to the restaurant she used to always go to, and Louis Armstrong sings “Hello, Dolly!” to her, and the waiters in red coats do high kicks down the stairs. I love musicals!

5. What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
How much I love country music! I love attending country concerts. Country artists with real talent are always so incredible to see live. I saw Brooks and Dunn, Megan Moroney, Scotty McCreery, Midland, Eric Church, Drake Milligan, and Ray Wylie Hubbard this past year. I’m dying to see Cody Johnson in concert!

6. What's a book that you'd recommend?
”A Prayer For Owen Meany” by John Irving. It’s an incredible novel that tells a story of faith, family, and friendship. It takes place during the Vietnam War and touches on many social issues, but it will also have you laughing out loud.

7. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I enjoy cooking and hosting dinner parties. Spending time with friends and family is important to me. I also love traveling, going to concerts, and rooting for the Cowboys.

8. What are your top three TV shows you’re streaming right now?
I don’t really watch that much TV, but if I had to choose my top three favorite shows of all time right now, I would say “Arrested Development,” “Game of Thrones,” and “Ted Lasso.”

9. Where’s your favorite travel destination and why?
The beach! My favorite beach trip was going to the Amalfi Coast in Italy when I was studying abroad in Rome. It was so beautiful, and the seafood was excellent. I want to go back to Italy so badly!

10. Why is Grant Halliburton Foundation’s mission important to you?
The Foundation’s mission is important to me because I’ve seen the impact of being uneducated about mental health on myself and my family and friends. Mental health education and breaking the stigma are essential for suicide prevention. I’m glad to be a part of an organization that works daily to fight for the lives of everyone in our community.
